Oral Eating and Drinking Support (OEDS)

Training aim:
To ensure participants have practical, relevant information about safe practices to support children and adolescents with individual oral eating and drinking support needs.

Learning outcomes:
Participants will be able to contribute to worksite risk assessment for health support planning in this area.
Provide oral eating and drinking support in line with individual care plans.

Content:
Procedures included in oral eating and drinking care plans.
Planning worksite support for children and adolescents with oral eating and drinking care plans.

Pre-requisites:
Participants should have a current basicfirst aid certificate and knowledge of DECS 'Health Support Planning' guidelines (Intro to Health Support Planning Overview )

Materials:
The course is based on the DECS guidelines: Personal care support planning in schools, preschools and childcare services
A free copy of these guidelines will be provided to participants.

Duration: 3 1/2 hours

Cost:
$60 for a course organised by chess or $130.00/hour plus GST for a regional/group booking for up to 25 people.

Relevant for:
Education and childcare workers (teachers, support staff, trained and untrained childcare workers, Access Assistant Program staff)
Other community service workers responsible for providing oral eating and drinking support to children and adolescents.
