Medication Management in Education & Children's Services (MMECS)

Training aim:
To support safe medication management in education, childcare and community services.

Learning outcomes:
Participants will be able to establish and monitor safe medication management practices in their worksite.

Content:
An overview of safe medication management policy for education and children's services.
Skills training in medication management in community settings.

Prerequisites:
Nil, but a knowledge of the DECS 'Health Support Planning' guidelines is an advantage.

Materials:
The course is based on the DECS guidelines: Health support planning in schools, preschools and childcare services
A workbook containing the relevant sections of these guidelines will be provided to participants.

Registered Nurse


Duration: 3 Hours

Cost:
$60 for a course organised by chess or $130.00/hour plus GST for a regional/group booking for up to 25 people.

Relevant for:
Education and childcare workers (teachers, support staff, trained and untrained childcare workers, Access Assistant Program staff)
Other community service workers responsible for medication management at their worksite.

The course is consistent with:
Health support planning in schools, preschools and childcare services (DETE 2001).
Disability Services Office Policy: Health Support Training & Competency Based Assessment of Care Workers (2005).
