Introduction to Health Support Planning (IHSP)

Training aim:
To enhance safe and consistent health support planning systems in community-based education and children’s services

Learning outcomes:
Participants will be able to more effectively risk manage health support planning in their worksite.

Content:
· An overview of 'Health support planning' policy principles and guidelines
· Practical examples of risk assessment and planning for a children and adolescents with a wide range of support needs including:
- Chronic health conditions such as asthma, epilepsy, diabetes, allergy/anaphylaxis, cystic fibrosis
- Mental health issues
- Personal care support issues, including continence care
- Infestation and infection issues
- Familiarisation with a worksite checklist for monitoring policy implementation in worksites.

Prerequisites:
None

Materials:
The course is based on the DECS guidelines: Health support planning in education and children's services (DECS 2006)
A free copy of these guidelines will be provided to participants.

Presenter/s:
Various, dependent on the sector (advised at time of course booking and confirmation).


Duration: 3 hours

Cost:
$60 for a course organised by chess or $130.00/hour plus GST for a regional/group booking for up to 25 people.

Relevant for:
Education and childcare workers (teachers, support staff, trained and untrained childcare workers, Access Assistant Program staff)
The course can be customised to the sector and setting in which workers are employed.
