ECD Basic Emergency Life Support (BELS)
Training aim:
To acquire the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond
to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures
only.
Learning outcomes:
To enable a first aider to provide an initial response to an emergency
in line with practised actions and Australian Resuscitation Council
Guidelines and/or State/Territory and accepted industry guidelines.
Content:
Respond
in an emergency situation
Apply identified first aid procedures including
management of a collapsed person, asthma, administration of a prescribed
Epi-Pen for anaphylaxis, seizure management and first aid use of
DECD health support plans.
Document and communicate details of the incident
Evaluate basic life support provided.
Prerequisites:
None,
but a knowledge of DECD Health support planning guidelines is an
advantage.

Provided:
DECD first aid guidelines and flow charts specific to the education
and children's services sector.
Presenters:
First aid trainers from the Australian Red Cross-SA Division
Duration: 7.5 Hours
Cost:
DECD worksites & Non-DECD worksites
(Maximum
of 15 participants): $735.00
Individuals: $95.00 if undertaken at the Australian Red Cross Training Centre
