Women's & Children's Hospital (WCHN)

Learning is the core business of the Hospital Education Services at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Curriculum is delivered employing strategies and methodologies appropriate to the needs of the child/student.

At the Women’s and Children’s Hospital a ward and classroom based service is provided for children and students who are expected to be admitted for more than three days.

This is managed in a number of ways including:

  • programs to support children and students, within the guidelines of medical staff, to access the curriculum
  • specific educational packs developed by teachers for short term patients
  • liaison with schools to provide a continuity of curriculum.

Pathways programs are developed for specific conditions through multidisciplinary groups.

How to Access Our Service

Internal Hospital referrals are completed by medical staff. Sibling referrals are to be negotiated with the manager of HES.
